WIP Count
I don't think I've ever written so much with so little result for a fandom before. I have notebooks full of quadrant meta and character thoughts and plot ideas, and my writing folder is this parade of the same handful of Homestuck one-shots rewritten in different voices and using different structures. In something like four months of obsessively thinking about hs, I have managed to finish and post ONE short fic, which was ridiculous clichefic for the OTP I have the least complicated feelings about.
Anyway, here are the things I'm working on:
The Rose/Kanaya short one-shot set right after Act 6 Intermission 1. This one is actually finished and currently ... actually I don't know whether to say it's in beta? Basically I sent it to S. and asked her to tell me if it was terrible and out of character and I should just give up on it and swear a vow to never ever attempt to write this OTP again, because Rose and Kanaya do nothing but mock me and this stupid scribbly little thing has been written four times and doesn't even look like words to me anymore.
The Rose/John first-meetings/Rose-consistently-makes-John-feel-weird/John-makes-Rose-stop-taking-herself-so-seriously-and-let-herself-be-silly/also-grimdark-tentacles fic. As you can see, that one is super-clear thematically, I'm not at all flailing about trying to make it come together. I've written three of four scenes, so there's only the most important one to go.
The nominally-Rose/Kanaya-but-mostly-Rose-and-Karkat-talking-shit-at-each-other-for-six-thousand-words quadrant meta fic that is ... honestly the most self-indulgent thing and I would roll my eyes so hard if I saw it on the new fic page at AO3. So I may or may not actually post that when it's finished, but it's the thing I pick up and write a couple of thousand words of when I'm feeling geeky.
The Terezi/Karkat/Dave xxxHolic fusion that I have a couple of thousand words of, but probably nothing that won't need to be deleted when and if there is actual plot. There's no plot at the moment, I was just enamoured of the idea of Terezi as a teenaged Witch of the Dimensions sending Karkat on horrifying missions and making him work with the coolkid.
The ones I have no words written for yet are:
The Master Thief's Apprentice, which will be a somewhat epic John & Vriska AU if it actually gets written. Currently I have about twenty pages of notes. I love this one so much. In its nonexistant state.
The ashen Terezi/Karkat/Vriska regency AU which honestly has no plot at all yet, other than notes like: then there will be duels!. (I'm a bit sad about the fact that there'll be no general Team Clubs for the HSO, after that Ask about it on Tumblr. I would love to join an ashen team, but the asker is right that there's no way you could get the numbers for any particular ship, there just isn't any ashen fandom OTP.)
... I also have an eternal nonspecific urge to write high school AUs for the alpha kids. All of the high school AUs. Unfortunately high school AUs need plots too? Who knew.
