I read mainly slash, but then on occasion I find a story with an awesome female character and I realise that I really miss it. Awesome female characters often aren't fully fleshed out in slash fics, even if they are still awesome (I'm thinking of Natasha in the Avengers fandom now. She's always a BAMF, but often a bit 2D).
